| STRINGING
MATERIALS FOR JEWELRY MAKING
There
are many different types of bead stringing materials
available. This variety allows beaders to choose stringing
materials that are suitable for particular bead projects.

Flexible
Beading Wire
Brands such as Bead Smith Flex Rite and Soft Flex
offer a flexible beading wire created from stainless
steel. There are varying qualities of flexible beading
wire determined by the number of strands. The higher
the strand count the stronger and more flexible
the beading wire.
Medium weight is usually .018" or .019"
wide. This is suitable for most projects. If you
are using freshwater pearls or gemstone beads with
small holes, then light weight flexible beading
wire may be a better option.
Heavy weight beading wire is usually about .024"
wide and can be used for heavy projects featuring
large metal beads or heavy glass beads and stone
beads.
Flexible beading wire requires the use of crimp
beads and findings. |
